The　atmosphere　is　one　of　the　crucial　parts　of　the　environment.　It　is　a　layer　of　gases　that　surrounds　the　Earth，　mainly　composed　of　nitrogen　（about　78％），　oxygen　（about　21％），　and　small　amounts　of　other　gases　such　as　carbon　dioxide，　argon，　and　trace　amounts　of　neon，　helium，　and　methane.　The　atmosphere　protects　us　from　harmful　solar　radiation，　regulates　the　Earth，s　temperature，　and　provides　the　air　we　breathe.　For　example，　the　ozone　layer　within　the　stratosphere　plays　a　vital　role　in　absorbing　most　of　the　Sun，s　ultraviolet　radiation，　which　can　cause　skin　cancer　and　other　health　problems　if　it　reaches　the　Earth，s　surface　in　large　amounts.

The　hydrosphere　includes　all　the　water　on　the　Earth，s　surface，　such　as　oceans，　seas，　lakes，　rivers，　and　groundwater.　Oceans　cover　about　71％　of　the　Earth，s　surface　and　are　home　to　an　incredibly　diverse　range　of　marine　life.　They　also　play　a　significant　role　in　regulating　the　global　climate　through　processes　like　the　absorption　and　release　of　heat.　Rivers　and　lakes　are　important　sources　of　fresh　water　for　drinking，　irrigation，　and　industry.　Groundwater，　stored　beneath　the　Earth，s　surface　in　aquifers，　is　another　vital　water　resource　that　often　takes　a　long　time　to　replenish.

The　lithosphere　is　the　solid　outer　part　of　the　Earth，　which　includes　the　crust　and　the　upper　mantle.　It　provides　the　foundation　for　all　life　forms　and　is　rich　in　minerals.　The　soil，　a　part　of　the　lithosphere，　is　a　mixture　of　organic　matter，　minerals，　gases，　and　liquids　that　supports　plant　growth.　Different　types　of　soils　have　different　properties，　influencing　the　types　of　plants　that　can　thrive　in　a　particular　area.

The　biosphere　is　the　zone　where　life　exists.　It　includes　all　living　organisms，　from　the　tiniest　microorganisms　to　the　largest　animals.　Plants　are　the　primary　producers，　converting　sunlight，　carbon　dioxide，　and　water　into　organic　matter　through　photosynthesis.　This　process　not　only　provides　food　for　themselves　but　also　forms　the　basis　of　the　food　chain.　Animals，　ranging　from　insects　to　mammals，　have　various　roles　in　the　ecosystem.　Some　are　herbivores　that　feed　on　plants，　while　others　are　carnivores　that　prey　on　other　animals.　Decomposers，　such　as　bacteria　and　fungi，　break　down　dead　organic　matter，　recycling　nutrients　back　into　the　environment.
